BREAKING: New money reward!

For every item you donate to me, I'll give you a $5 check.  Sometimes it might take a while though, as I am currently on Social Supplementary Income (SSI), which gives me $700 a month.

So mail them in!

A little background

I recently created a blog about the first of three collections of hard copies that I'd like to acquire through donation, then turn into a museum.

  • Movies: VHS tapes, Region One DVDs, and Region One Blu-ray Discs
  • Books
  • Music: LPs, cassettes, and CDs
I know what you're probably thinking: "But hard copies of all of those are folding!  Why buy them in bulk now?"

Well, because before the videocassette, the vinyl record, and the printing press, these media were nowhere near as readily available as they are today.  I want to make sure that future generations understand and appreciate that.

I'm still deciding on a title for the eventual collections, but these tangible copies will be made into their own museums.  I hope to achieve my massive collection through donation by mail.  For movies and music, my goal is to collect one copy of each work per format.

Here are the criteria for donation.

MOVIES:
  • If released up to 1979, they must have been voted at least once a month since January 1, 1998 on IMDb (that's when the voting process began);
  • if released since 1980, they must have been voted at least once every ten days; or
  • they must be cited at least twice in lists of best or good films.
BOOKS/MUSIC:
  • I'm looking for the famous, the influential, the relevant (at the time, anyway), and the superior.
